The Effects of Working Environment on Client-Oriented Tendency of Care Workers in Long-Term Care Facilities for the Elderly -Focused on Chungbuk Region-

Abstract

|
This study was performed to test the effects of working environment on client-oriented tendency of care workers in facilities for the elderly focusing on self efficacy and job satisfaction as mediators. We surveyed care workers working in care facilities for the elderly located in Chungcheongbuk-do for two-months from May to July, 2012 to collect data. The findings of this study were summarized as follows. First, it was founded that the effects of human environment, reward system and physical environment of working environment on client-oriented tendency were statistically significant. Second, it was founded that the effect of human environment of working environment on self-efficacy was statistically significant. Third, it was founded that the effects of human environment, physical environment and job expertise of working environment on job satisfaction were statistically significant. Fourth, it was founded that the effects of self-efficacy and job satisfaction of care workers on client-oriented tendency were statistically significant. Fifth, the partial mediating effect of self-efficacy between human environment and client-oriented tendency was founded. Also, the partial mediating effect of job satisfaction between human environment or physical environment and client-oriented tendency was founded, and the complete mediating effect of job satisfaction between job expertise and client-oriented tendency was founded. Therefore, the alternatives for the increase of self-efficacy and job satisfaction of care workers through the improvement of working environment should be prepared.
